Geography Field School Awarded as UP Diliman's Best Extension Program of Degree Granting Units

Geography Field School has been recognized as the best extension program of degree granting units in the Parangal para sa Programang Pang-Ekstensiyon awarding ceremonies held last May 17, 2016 at the Malcolm Hall, UP College of Law.

The Department's Field School Program was presented by Dr. Darlene Occeña-Gutierrez in the 3rd UPD Extension Colloquium held last April 29, 2016, along with fellow finalists for degree granting programs Buklod Bohol of the Asian Institute of Tourism, Project Kapnayan of the Institute of Chemistry and finalists for non-degree granting extension programs KaSaMa Teachers Online Community of NISMED, Salinan and Ugnayan sa First Read Project, both of which are of Sentro ng Wikang Filipino.

Geography Field School or Geography 192 is a course-based extension program offered by the department every summer/mid-year term. It allows Geography faculty and undergraduate students to support the development planning processes at provincial, municipal and community levels. It fulfills the goals of service learning of enhancing academic learning among students and faculty while extending assistance to communities in a professional manner.
