Department of Geography conducts dialogue with CRS-Manila for possible research collaborations

The Department of Geography hosted members of the Catholic Relief Services Philippines (CRS Philippines) on January 23, 2019 for a dialog about possible research writing collaborations. The dialog is an avenue for sharing data and information from success stories of CRS-Manila by members of the Department of Geography.

CRS Philippines presented stories of Project SUCCESS (Strengthening Urban Communities’ Capacity to Endure Severe Shocks), Savings  and Internal Lending Communities (SILC), solid waste management initiatives, and community-based disaster risk reduction and management. Present from the CRS Philippines team were Marino Deocariza, Program Manager; Jove Benosa, Deputy Program Manager; Adrian Badiable, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Manager; and Marell Wong, MEAL Officer.

Faculty members of the Department shared insights about the usability and possible offshoots of existing available and accessible information. Led by Dr. Yany Lopez, Chair of the Department, members of the Department of Geography faculty present were Prof. Darlene Gutierrez, Dr. Vanessa Anacta, Asst. Prof. Marion Tinio, and Asst. Prof. Emmanual Garcia.


Also present in the dialog is Assoc. Prof. Aldrin Lee, Associate Dean for Research and Publications of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP).
