DOST-SEI includes BS Geography as a priority S&T program covered by Undergraduate Scholarships, effective First Semester AY 2019-2020

The BS Geography program has been included as a priority S&T program covered by the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) Undergraduate Scholarships, effective First Semester of Academic Year 2019-2020.

In a letter addressed to Chancellor Michael Tan dated January 9, 2019, Director Josette Biyo of the DOST-SEI detailed that the National Technical and Selection Committee and the Advisory Committee on S&T Scholarships approved the request for the inclusion of BS Geography among S&T programs covered under the S&T Scholarship Program in meetings held on 27 November 2018 and 10 December 2018, respectively.

The DOST-SEI offers the S&T Undergraduate Scholarships Program “to stimulate and entice talented Filipino youths to pursue lifetime productive careers in science and technology and ensure a steady, adequate supply of qualified S&T human resources which can steer the country towards national progress.”

The approval of the DOST-SEI exhibits the importance and relevance of the discipline of geography in the education of the Filipino youth.
